The dental implant is an artificial tooth root, usually made of titanium alloys. In the event of tooth loss, the implant body is anchored in the jawbone. The head part passes through the oral mucosa, whereupon crowns and prostheses can be attached. In the case of implant treatment, the missing tooth is replaced without grinding the neighboring teeth. This is not possible when using a bridge. Furthermore, the attachment of prosthetic restorations (prostheses, etc.) to implants enables much better hold and stability.
